Boy's Team Coaches
Coach Bill Hawkins
Coach Hawkins comes to Etowah from Walton High School in Marietta where he was a teacher for 29 years and ha coached for 24 years. He has coached Track and Field for 10 years, Volleyball for 5 years, and freshman women's basketball for 2 years. He also coached softball for 4 years. At Walton, he coached the boy's JV lacrosse team for 5 years and was the JV Coach for the girl's team for one year.
He has been a GACA Coach of the Year for 2 years in track and field. He also has a state championship ring as he and his coaching peers won the GACA Director's Cup for 3 out of 6 years as the best coaching staff in the state of Georgia. Coach Mark Landry
Raised in Sykesville, a suburb just outside of Baltimore, MD, Coach Mark Landry moved to New Hampshire by his sophomore year in high school. While there, Mark helped develop a new lacrosse program at Souhegan High School in Amherst where he was a three-sport All-State athlete in lacrosse, football, and basketball. During a post-graduate year at Milford Academy in Milford, CT, Coach Landry earned Super-Prep All-American honors in football which propelled him to a full football scholarship to Clemson University. While at Clemson, Mark earned four letters and played in 47 straight games, including one Gator Bowl and two Peach Bowl appearances. He graduated Clemson with a B.S. in Business Management and a Minor in Economics.
Coach Rick Eltz
Coach Eltz has played and/or coached sport his whole life. He is a graduate of Tri Valley HS in the Catskill Mountains, SUNY Cortland and Life Chiropractic College. He played high school baseball, football, and basketball in addition to hockey at Life. This year is Coach Eltz's tenth year of coaching lacrosse. He has been with the Etowah Lacrosse program from the beginning. He has also coached baseball(20 years), soccer(5 years), football(3 years), ice and roller hockey(5 years). Eltz is a chiropractor, caring for the Etowah football and wrestling teams, a certified high school lacrosse official, a baseball umpire and part time substitute teacher. He has lived near Victoria Landing for 24+ years.
Girl's Team Coaches
Coach Strougo comes to Etowah from Woodstock Middle School where he coached the boy's soccer team for 2 years. He started teaching in 2005 and has always tried to reach students outside the classroom. He earned his bachelor's degree from Kennesaw State University and went on to receive a master's degree from Troy University. He completed his Specialist degree and looks forward to spending his extra time coaching instead of studying and writing papers.
Coach Strougo feels privileged to coach the Etowah Varsity team and is glad to be part of this growing program.
Coach Rodney Hunter Coach Rodney Hunter graduated from Tulane University in 1989 with a B.S. in Physical Education & Sports Administration. While at Tulane, he played Running Back on the football team. From 1990-2008 Hunter coached various high school football teams in the Miami, Florida area. Coach Hunter currently is the running back coach for the Etowah football team. |
